My Sit Down with Jake Gold

Ingrid:  Jake, you have been in the industry for a very long time.  Are you ever planning on slowing down?

Jake:  And do what?  I mean, I am a serial entrepreneur.   I like what I do.  And it’s not just about music for me these days.  I’ve discovered that my skills are transferable, and I manage others in the creative space these days, like muralists, authors, even Fashion Santa.

Ingrid:  Love Fashion Santa!  I ran into Moe Berg at the Horseshoe during Indie Week.  We were both checking out a band called the Fade Awaays.  What do you and Moe look for in new artists?

Jake:  Charisma.  Artists need to have charisma, and it needs to show on stage in a big way.

Ingrid:  Do I have Charisma?

Jake:  I’m not going to answer that.

Ingrid:  What are your thoughts on artist managers handling an artist’s personal finances?

Jake:  It’s not something I encourage.  Let other professionals handle that.  Whoever they use though, artists need to trust the professionals they deal with, and they need to be on top of things.

Ingrid:  Some Faves now.  Favourite concert?

Jake:  Peter Gabriel at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1978.  One of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

Ingrid:  Favourite Venue?

Jake:  I love The Horseshoe and the Rivoli.  It really depends on the band though.

Ingrid:  Favourite Scarf?

Jake:  All of them.

Fun Fact about Jake:  What do Jake and I have in common?  We are both left-handed!
